The Customs Authority is the main nerve of the national economy at the present time, and it bears great responsibilities, which are not only represented in the collection of revenues, as many believe, but rather it is the first line of defense to protect the security of the homeland and the citizen.
The Customs Authority works with all partners from other government agencies and the commercial sector to serve the country and the citizen and facilitate the commercial flow within the ports and land and air customs outlets while preserving the prestige of the state through the application of all laws and regulations in force, especially the customs law, and it spares no effort in arranging and coordinating And discussions with the governmental and commercial sectors to coordinate and study the various work obstacles and discuss and approve appropriate solutions to reach the provision of its services to its clients, whether field work crews, commercial partners and the public benefiting from the various customs services.
During the past years, the Customs Authority was able to feed the state treasury with billions of riyals, which constituted economic stability represented in the government’s ability to fulfill its national financial obligations. The Yemeni Customs Authority, as the first line of defense for the country, was able, thanks to the customs staff present around the clock in the land, sea and air ports. In addition to facing another challenge in terms of customs control, where significant and remarkable progress has been made in controlling many dangerous prohibitions, which constitute a national threat represented by disturbing security and harming health.
The Customs Authority works with partners from international organizations and civil society organizations to develop and improve customs service in addition to qualifying employees, whether internally or externally at the Customs Training Center.
The Customs Authority seeks to raise the level of its services and facilitate commercial flow, and it has made great strides over the past years in this field, as it has adopted the Authorized Economic Operator Program, and many obligated companies have obtained the program’s certificate, which granted obligated merchants a clear reduction in the rate of Customs clearance time, and other advantages.
The Customs Authority is taking steady steps towards the goals that it set in mind to maintain national security and supplement the state treasury, while continuing to focus on implementing its basic plans to develop and develop the capabilities of the customs cadre, modernizing the work infrastructure, adopting modern work mechanisms, and cooperating with trade partners, to reach To the ultimate goal of advancing the nation, keeping pace with the requirements of enforcement of local, regional and international labor laws and legislation, while adhering to commercial facilitation frameworks, in the interest of the citizen and the nation.
