Fourth anti-smuggling training course concludes

The head of the Customs Authority, Mr. Abdulhakim Al-Qubati, today concluded the fourth training course in the field of anti-smuggling. which lasted for five days.
In his speech to the trainees, the head of the department emphasized the importance of combating smuggling and identifying materials, tools and machines that pose a threat to national and regional security. He asked the trainees to apply the knowledge they received in the field.
He praised the efforts of customs officers in seizing many of the goods that customs officers were able to seize since the beginning of the year or during previous years.
He also called on the trainees to raise customs vigilance as the first line of defense for the country.
The course targeted 25 inspection employees at the Free Zone Customs. The course aimed to enhance customs knowledge on combating smuggling of dangerous and dual-use goods, which was modeled after the training workshop provided by the US State Department for Yemeni customs officials in Richland-Seattle in May 2024.
It is worth noting that the Customs Authority has held three previous similar courses for employees of customs outlets in the governorates of Aden, Hadramawt and Mahra.
The training materials were presented by M. Jalal Shayef Al-Afouri, Director General of Radiology and Automated Inspection, Dr. Ali bin Ali Jahtham, Director General of Customs Control and Anti-Smuggling, and Ahmed Al-Hassawi, Head of the Inspection Department at the Free Zone Customs.
The head of the authority handed out certificates to the trainees in the presence of Assistant Undersecretary for Customs Police Affairs Mr. Ahmed Al-Hajj, Director General of International Relations and Cooperation Engineer Fadl Al-Ban, Director General of Free Zone Customs Mohsen Qahtan, and Training Center Director Reem Mahfouz.
