In implementation of the directives of the Presidential Council headed by H.E. Dr. Rashad Al-Alaimi, the government headed by H.E. Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, the directives of H.E. Minister of Finance Mr. Salem Saleh binbureik and YCA Chairman Mr. Abdulhakim Al-Qubati in combating smuggling, employees of Shahen Customs in cooperation with the security authorities managed to seize 3975 spare parts for Kalashnikov weapons that were hidden in a commercial shipment coming into the country.
The Director General of Shahen Customs, Mr. Thabet Awad, stated that the seizure was in accordance with the customs law and the national legislation in force in the fight against smuggling. These distinguished efforts are the result of the training and qualification received by the customs staff during the past period, which the Customs Authority attaches the highest priority to raising customs awareness.
He emphasized that the customs is an impenetrable barrier to combat all smuggling attempts.
It is worth mentioning that Shahen Customs has seized many smuggling attempts during the past period, whether as spare parts related to drones or weapons.
